I studied stage design at Birmingham and the Slade and was a costume and dress designer for many years before turning to clay.

Initially working in a loose English Delftware style, my work has gravitated to this current synthesis of the figure placed in a context in which to perform.

The framework of platforms, plinths, ledges and spheres gives me an opportunity to treat the surface and figure in different ways and provide more material for telling the story, that of our fragile relationship with nature
