From an early age I was inspired by costume and theatre. I went on to study Theatre Design at Birmingham School of Art and later Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art at University College, London.
Before turning to clay I had a successful career in theatre and dress design. My works were exhibited and sold internationally; to clients in New York, Milan and Paris. The Victoria & Albert Museum holds two pieces of my early work.
Dress and theatre design, particularly from the Elizabethan era, has been highly influential in my ceramic works.
Initially I produced ceramics in a loose English Delftware style; my work has now gravitated to focus on a more figurative design. My figures are heavily influenced by my early inspirations and often resemble fragile human interactions with nature and the past.
